FEB. 20, 2010, SLAS FIELD TRIP REPORT
ADAMS RANCH, WESTERN ST. LUCIE COUNTY

Seventy-six participants enjoyed a wonderful cool morning touring the Bud Adams Ranch.   The tour was divided into two groups.  We started the day with a nice catered hot breakfast at the ranch during which the guests got to meet and talk to Bud Adams. The breakfast was followed by a slide show presentation by son Mike Adams, of the beautiful pictures taken of the ranch and the animals that they see on a regular basis. The guests were then taken on a bus tour of the ranch by son  Robbie Adams who also gave us some of the history of the ranch and answered everyone's questions.

List of birds and animals we saw at the ranch:

Eastern Meadowlark Deer - 1st trip
Little Blue Heron Wood Stork
Tri-colored Heron Kestrel
Great Heron Caracara - 1st trip
Sandhill Cranes Red-shouldered Hawk
Red-winged Blackbird Great Blue Heron
Robin Killdeer
Turkey Vulture Anhinga
Cattle Egret Kingfisher
Wild Turkey Blue-winged Teal
Alligator
