APRIL 9, 2011, SLAS FIELD TRIP REPORT
VERO BEACH WETLANDS, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY

Fourteen people attended the field trip to the Indian River County Wetlands off the I-95 exit in Vero Beach. We were treated to a pleasantly sunny and warm day.

Our former Audubon president, Dan Walma, was our expert guide on this trip and he provided many “teaching moments” over the course of  the 2 ½ hours we spent at the wetlands. Besides the birds listed below , we encountered numerous Marsh Rabbits, and of course, the American Alligator !
