Weldon B. Lewis Park, White City

Location: Weldon B. Lewis Park, 4650 Oleander Ave, Fort Pierce, FL 34982

Meet: The parking lot between 7-7:15 am. Start Time: 7:30 am

Guide: Adella Blacka, St Lucie Audubon Society “Birding Adventure Chair”

Details: This is a 38-acre shady, peaceful preserve with a one-mile trail winding through hammocks. We recommend comfortable closed-in shoes, hat and water. There could be mosquitos so bring repellent as a precaution. Picnic tables and restroom facilities are available. Commonly seen are Red-bellied Woodpeckers, Pileated Woodpeckers and Northern Cardinals. We will look for migrating species. Citrus Hammock Preserve is in the vicinity, about a five-minute drive from Ancient Oaks where there is a lovely pond with several species of water birds.
