Join us for a driving tour of McCarty Ranch Preserve.
NOTE: This event replaces the Scoping Scaup at O L Peacock Sr Park event. The City of PSL has closed Peacock Park for renovations through mid-2026.
The entrance road to McCarty Park traverses Florida Pinelands and allows for great birding by car. Potential species include woodpeckers, warblers, hawks and vultures. The large lakes on the property attract wading birds.
Doris and Steve Brookens will lead this trip.
We will meet in the parking lot at the restrooms which are located approximately 2 miles inside the park from the entrance on Range Line Road. We will distribute walkie-talkies to each car and then slowly drive the entrance road looking and listening for birds. We will pull over and exit our vehicles for better viewing at multiple spots. We'll finish up with a drive along a portion of the lake shore.
Bring your binoculars, snacks and water.
